07 March 2025

PT BUMA Internasional Grup Tbk (BUMA International Group; IDX: DOID, formerly known as PT Delta Dunia Makmur Tbk) has officially announced its partnership with Yayasan Karya Salemba Empat (KSE) to expand access to higher education for talented students in Indonesia from impoverished background. This partnership underscores BUMA International Group’s commitment to supporting Indonesia’s human capital development, with a focus on youth.

The partnership was formalized through a simple ceremony marking the partnership on March 4, 2025, marking a strategic step in expanding educational access and promoting social empowerment. Through KSE, the Group will provide twenty scholarships, which will be awarded to alumni of the BUMA School program, managed by the Group’s social enterprise subsidiary, PT Bisa Ruang Nuswantara (BIRU), which focuses primarily on education.

Iwan Fuad Salim, Director of BUMA International Group, stated, “We are honored to collaborate with KSE, the largest non-governmental scholarship provider in Indonesia. We believe that youth are the greatest resource of any nation. By investing in their education and development, we are not only shaping their minds but also the future of our country. These initiatives fuel our mission of nation-building and uplifting the livelihoods of our fellow Indonesians”.

As an institution dedicated to bridging companies and individuals with high-potential young talents from underprivileged backgrounds, Yayasan Karya Salemba Empat (KSE) plays an active role in facilitating donations and implementing targeted soft skills development programs. Now in its 30th year, KSE has awarded scholarships to over 30,000 students across thirty-five universities in Indonesia.

Adrian Karim Januar, Executive Chairman of KSE, welcomed the partnership, stating, “Since its establishment, KSE has contributed to providing need-based scholarships, opening access to higher education for economically disadvantaged students. We are pleased to collaborate with BUMA International Group, which shares our vision of nurturing and developing Indonesia’s best talents. We hope this partnership marks the beginning of a broader impact on education in Indonesia.”

Echoing Adrian, Kanya Stira Sjahrir, Chief Executive Officer of BIRU, emphasized that this program extends beyond scholarships by fostering an ecosystem that supports the development of Indonesian youth. She stated, “This collaboration aligns with BIRU’s mission to enhance skills and provide job opportunities for young people while contributing to a 1% reduction in youth unemployment in Indonesia by 2035. We hope this program will continue to grow and reach even more talented students in the future."

The selection process for scholarship candidates is conducted rigorously, including document verification and interviews, to ensure that selected candidates meet the required criteria. Scholarship recipients come from various universities, including Politeknik Negeri Malang, Politeknik Manufaktur Bandung, Universitas Hasanuddin (UNHAS), Universitas Negeri Sebelas Maret (UNS), Politeknik Energi dan Pertambangan Bandung, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), and Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani.

Arman Nurdin, one of the scholarship recipients and an alumnus of BUMA School 2023 from Universitas Hasanuddin, expressed his appreciation for the support provided by BUMA International Group. “This scholarship is a valuable opportunity for me to continue enhancing the quality of my education, both academically and non-academically. In addition to financial support, this program also provides opportunities for me to participate in various social activities that broaden my perspective and enrich my experiences.”

Furthermore, BIRU and KSE will provide mentorship and equip scholarship recipients with various training sessions, seminars, and discussions to develop their non-academic skills. These initiatives aim to better prepare students for the professional world, enhance their competitiveness, and empower them to make meaningful contributions in their respective fields.

The ceremony was attended in person by representatives from BUMA International Group, BIRU, Yayasan Karya Salemba Empat, and was virtually witnessed by scholarship recipients.
